Biography:
B.Sc Biochemistry. S.U.N.Y. College of Forestry at Syracuse University 1965. Ph. D. Biochemistry University of Washington in Seattle 1970. Remainder of appointments all at UW, joint in Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering. Post doctoral Fellow 1970 to 1973. Research Associate 1974 to 1978. Research assistant prof, research associate prof, and research prof 1978 to 1985. Regular full professor 1986. Retired 2010, immediately rehired at 40%, served as 40% rehire full prof. until June 2015. Currently fully retired. NIH grantee from 1975 to 2010. Published ca. 200 fully refereed journal articles. Edited 5 books. Co-organized 3 major meetings on proteins at interfaces. Ca. 10 doctoral students and 20 Masters students.

Cell and protein interactions with foreign materials. Controlled drug delivery from biomaterials.
