This topic focused on  the future scaffolds needed to replace human tissues. We defined the “Engineering Approach” as starting from a synthetic material and optimizing the performance of this material through an engineering approach that may include biological components such as growth factors, cells etc. In contrast, the “Biological Approach” is defined as starting from a living organism or living tissue. Examples of the “Biological Approach” include the use cells from the body of the patient, scaffolds based on ECM derived from living tissue, use of decellularized organs and tissues, or transplantation of organs and tissues
